Dr. Matthew Holder is recognized as an international leader in the emerging field of developmental medicine. Across the United States and around the world, his achievements in the development of clinical protocol, global health policy and academic programming have improved the lives of tens of thousands of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). He presently holds three concurrent positions:
As the Global Medical Advisor and Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee for Special Olympics, International, Dr. Holder has created multi-disciplinary health programs serving over five-million athletes with IDD worldwide, and has consulted with national and world leaders in the development of legislation and policy.
As the Chief Executive Officer of Chyron, LLC and Advantage Medical Corp., Dr. Holder co-designed and operates Kentucky’s first and largest interdisciplinary clinic focused exclusively on the care of adults with IDD. To date, representatives from over 20 states seek to replicate the success of this model.
As the Executive Director and, later, President Emeritus of the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry, Dr. Holder has developed one of the largest networks of healthcare professionals who serve people with IDD in the nation; and, on behalf of all Americans with IDD, he continues to work tirelessly to change the face of clinical care and professional education.
