People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) often have complex medical and behavioral issues and concerns. Epilepsy is the most common neurologic condition faced by those with IDD.
“Caring for Adults with IDD & Epilepsy”, featuring Neurologist and AADMD Board Member Seth Keller, MD as well as Anne Patterson, Director of Patient and Clinic Outreach and Tanner Williams, will provide an overview of this disorder including a personal, social, medical and multidisciplinary perspective; all of which are vitally important in order to provide best practices.
About Tanner Williams:
Tanner grew up in upstate New York before moving to Vermont the summer before his sophomore year of high school. He was born with neurofibromatosis I and was diagnosed with epilepsy in elementary school. Currently, Tanner is in his second year of studies at Champlain College majoring in Visual Communications and Design. In his free time, he enjoys watching YouTube videos, doing photography, taking walks, and spending time with his sidekick – Georgia the goldendoodle.
Every THIRD Tuesday* of the month the AADMD Student & Resident Committee hosts the interdisciplinary webinar series - Virtual Grand Rounds. This is a chance for clinicians (and non-clinicians) to learn about person-centered care and advocacy for people with IDD.
