Webinar: Dementia Evaluation and Care in Aging Adults with IDD
Dementia Evaluation and Care in Aging Adults with IDD: Remembering Bill
Adults with IDD are living longer than in the past. Functional and cognitive decline are very common social and health consequences of aging, but they are often poorly characterized and managed by Health care providers and support staff. This Webinar will present specific information that will help to clarify these issues as well as to present information on the National Task Group on Intellectual Disabilities and Dementia Practices project (NTG). The discussion centers around the life of Bill Hogan, a wonderful family member and friend to many. Sadly, Bill was diagosed with Alzheimer's Disease (AD) in his mid-forties. He experienced many of the common challenges faced by individuals who develop this debilitating terminal disease. His journey is used to point out the various care issues that are faced by the indivdual and family, as well as the entire support system. We hope that Bill's story will bring clarity to some of the very important issues associated with ID/AD while prompting the listener to reflect on how we might improve care.
Drs Seth Keller and Matt Janicki are the speakers.
