Linda R. Edwards, M.D., F.A.C.P. is currently Associate Professor of Medicine and Chief, Division of General Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. She also serves as the Associate Chair for the Department of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine training at Jacksonville Health Education Programs (JHEP) in Jacksonville in 1984. She has been a member of the Division of General Internal Medicine since 1985 and became division chief in 1998.
Dr. Edwards’ clinical interests include healthcare transition for youth with special healthcare needs. She is co-medical director with Doctor David Wood, a UF pediatrician, of JaxHATS –Jacksonville Health and Transition Services. JaxHATS is a primary care medical home for youth with special healthcare needs. In 2008, she served on an NIH Consensus Panel that reviewed the use of hydoxyurea in the treatment of adult patients with sickle cell disease.

- Appropriately evaluate changes in behavior and adaptive function.
- Conduct appropriate testing in order to identify common secondary health conditions.
- Recognize atypical presentations of common diseases.
- Recognize common psychiatric conditions and provide appropriate treatment and referrals.
