Kaiser Releases New and Updated Resources on Oral Health Care, Coverage and Access

The Kaiser Family Foundation has released several new and updated resources that present data and analyze issues related to coverage and access for oral health in the United States. The papers highlight the prevalence of dental problems among children, nonelderly adults and Medicare beneficiaries. The briefs also examine gaps in oral health coverage and access to dental care, and disparities by income and race/ethnicity, as well as out-of-pocket costs for dental care. A fact sheet highlights key national data and i ncludes state-by-state data on measures such as the share of adults who have had a dental visit within the past year.

All of the materials were released today at a public forum at the Foundation’s Washington, D.C. office that examines the gaps and disparities in dental coverage and care in the U.S., the health, social and other consequences of these systemic deficiencies, and promising strategies for increasing access to oral health care and improving oral health for all Americans. An archived webcast of the forum will be available online later today.
