Nomination of AADMD Nurse of the Year

Gerri Collins-Bride, RN, MS,ANP
Clinical Professor and Vice Chair
Dept of Community Health Systems
-University of California, San Francisco

Gerri has been co-chairing a phenomenal annual program with Dr. Lucy Crain in San Francisco. The program is “Update on Developmental Disability for the Health professional” for almost ten years. She has brought in a number of exciting speakers and reinforces the need for multidisciplinary approach.

She has also be one of the founders of a program called TACT. TACT stands for Telemedicine, Access, Consulting Team. As access to care is a dramatic problem in Northern California; she has helped develop the concept of distance consulting with a panel of healthcare professionals. The consumer goes to a local facility that is equipped with videoconferencing equipment and is consulted with a team of physicians, dentists and social workers on the other site. It is a comprehensive approach where the focus is on the best care modality for the patient.

She is currently involved with a textbook for clinicians for patients with developmental disabilities.
